Ivan Avelar, PE, Named as El Paso Young Engineer of the Year- RABA KISTNER CONSULTANTS' IVAN AVELAR, PE, RECOGNIZED AS YOUNG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR 2013 BY LOCAL ENGINEERING GROUP (El Paso)
The Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), El Paso chapter, has chosen Ivan Avelar, PE as their Young Engineer of the Year for 2013. The group cited accomplishments in three areas for their choice of recipient, including academic, professional and community service. Mr. Avelar is a member of the Board of Directors for the chapter and has led TSPE committees including the High School Scholarship Program and the MATHCOUNTS Competition.
Mr. Avelar is a Project Engineer for Raba Kistner Consultants in their El Paso office. He has contributed to major projects for the firm in El Paso, including services on the Newman 5 Power Plant, several University of Texas at El Paso building additions, the Fort Bliss Hospital Replacement, and the Fountains at Farah Mall.
In addition to earning his Professional Engineer (PE) designation, Mr. Avelar also has a Masters of Civil Engineering, earned from Texas A&M in 2005. He earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2003.
